Courtney brings with her to Advantage Sports Consulting over 15 years of hockey experience. She grew up playing AAA boys hockey in Richmond, and attending the Delta Hockey Academy for 2 years before she moved to Shattuck St. Mary’s, Minnesota, in grade 10 to continue her hockey development and complete her high school career. Courtney won 3 USA Hockey national championships with Shattuck, and was also selected to represent BC and Canada for hockey. Courtney played for Team BC at Canadian National Championships three times, earning 4th place, 2 bronze medals, and serving as Captain of Team BC in her final year. In 2018 she was awarded the Top Defenseman at the National Championship Tournament. Courtney also represented Team Canada at the IIHF World Championships in Czech in 2017 winning a silver medal, and as an Assistant Captain in Dimitrov, Russia in 2018, where she was awarded Top Defenseman for Team Canada and earned a bronze medal for Canada.
Following her successful high school career, Courtney played Division 1 hockey for Quinnipiac University (QU) in the NCAA. Through her 5 years at QU Courtney was selected as a top three finalist for Top Defensemen in the ECAC, won Top Defensive Player for QU twice, and helped her team to reach the NCAA tournament her final two years, winning the programs first ever NCAA tournament win. While at QU in her first year, Courtney experienced a major injury which sidelined her from many games, taking a medical redshirt year, and learnt what it takes to overcome and battle through injuries to get back to the ice, and the importance of the mental side of the sport when faced with challenges and adversities. While playing at Quinnipiac, Courtney earned her Bachelors of Science with majors in Health Science and Psychology. She used her 5th year to complete a Masters of Business Administration.
After a positive experience in college, Courtney continues to play hockey, and signed a professional contract, currently playing for Leksands IF in the Swedish SDHL league.
Courtney has helped with both coaching and administration in various hockey camps over the summers while she is training at home, and here discovered the fun, excitement and passion for helping young athletes to improve and reach their goals. As someone who has a wide variety of experience, Courtney recognizes that it took many people to help her reach her athletic and educational goals throughout her hockey career and is excited to help other young athletes develop plans and execute on those to realize their full potential.
When not training or playing, Courtney likes to spend her time traveling, hiking, baking, playing word games and spending time with family and friends.
