Danika Cowie has been an active member of the Volleyball BC and Volleyball Canada community for over 10 years now. Hailing from Earl Marriott Secondary in South Surrey, BC, Danika played for a number of clubs throughout her youth career including Seaside Volleyball Club, Academy Volleyball, and Thunder Volleyball Club. She finished off her club experience with Thunder Volleyball Club in Vancouver, after signing with the UBC Thunderbirds Women’s Volleyball program. Within those club years, Danika became a two time National Champion (2016 & 2018) and was named a tournament All-Star. Before joining the Thunderbirds for her rookie season, Danika represented BC at the Canada Summer Games in 2017 which took place in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Danika also became a USports National Champion during her first season with the Thunderbirds in 2019.
During her time at UBC, Danika pursued her Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, specializing in sports nutrition, and social psychology. She was also named to the USports Academic All-Canadian list during her 2019-2022 seasons. Following her Bachelor’s degree, Danika pursued her Masters in Business Management at the Sauder School of Business.
Danika has always loved working with athletes of all ages and skill levels and has been coaching since 2017. After reflecting on her time as a coach, Danika has developed a passion for mentorship among young female athletes, and believes that teaching young athletes to advocate for themselves and take control of their development is a life skill that provides a ton of value down the road both on and off the court. Danika has always believed in building a strong sense of community, and is excited to bring the Advantage Network to fruition.
In her spare time, Danika loves to keep an active lifestyle through cycling, weight training, and playing beach volleyball.
