From a young age, Kate has been deeply involved in the sports community in Powell River, BC. Growing up in a remote community that required a ferry or even two ferries to access other areas, she learned the importance of effective time management early on. This was a skill essential for balancing the heavy training and academic demands that came with participating in both volleyball and soccer competitively during high school.
Kate played for the Powell River Rep Soccer Club and Aces Volleyball Club for years until her passion for soccer continued to grow, leading her to play in the Vancouver Island Premier League, the highest level available in the area, while still balancing the competitive demands of her volleyball team. After facing the challenge of a long-term back injury, she underwent a rehabilitation journey that allowed her to continue her soccer career with the University of the Fraser Valley Women's Soccer team beginning in 2018. She played from 2018-2021, after which further injuries led her to step away from the competitive league.
In addition to her athletic pursuits, Kate was a dedicated student, balancing her academic and athletic commitments with passion, leading to Academic All-Canadian status in 2018, 2019, and 2020. She graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration and was selected as Valedictorian of her graduating class in 2021. Kate plans to continue her educational journey in Europe to pursue a Master’s in International Business in the near future.
The lessons she learned as a student-athlete have equipped her with invaluable skills that she continues to apply in her professional life. She always looks forward to sharing key lessons with young athletes and coaching them to success. In her spare time, Kate can usually be found running, researching her next travel destination, or chasing her golden-doodle Desmond around.
