Michael brings over 20 years of hockey and sports experience to the team at Advantage Sports Consulting. Michael grew up in the South Surrey area playing for the Semiahmoo Ravens before playing two years at the Delta Hockey Academy. Michael was a finalist for CSSHL league MVP both years he played for Delta. He spent two years with the Merritt Centennials of the BCHL and one year with the Youngstown Phantoms of the USHL which culminated in a Clark Cup final run.
Following Michael’s successful junior career, he moved to Cornell University. While at Cornell Michael won 2 Ivy league championships, most promising freshman and two ECAC regular season championships across three years. In his second year the Cornell team was ranked number 1 nationally before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down all sports in North America. Michael completed his Bachelor of Science majoring in Applied Economics and Management in just three years. He graduated with honours Cum Laude. He went onto spend 1 year at Miami University in Ohio completing his Master of Accountancy while competing for the hockey team there.
Michael attended Vancouver Canucks main camp and rookie camp before earning a contract with the Abbotsford Canucks of the American Hockey League. Michael played a full season for the Abbotsford Canucks before ultimately deciding to retire from playing professional hockey despite multiple offers to return to the AHL and to play professionally in Europe.
Michael has a passion for fostering relationships with young athletes and their families. His time as a player led him to recognize the deficits in the development model for current players growing up. With the recent experience as a player and his many hockey connections, Michael is uniquely positioned to help young athletes address any issue they may come across on the road to their dreams.
In his spare time Michael enjoys staying busy by weightlifting, hiking, cooking, and volunteering.
